I’ve decided to go retro today, this day, the first day of a new year.

There was a time before twitter. A time before Facebook. A time when the only way to keep you updated about a person’s or a band’s goings on was through a lot of typing and posting of pictures on long form blogs.

I’ve decided to go retro today, this day, the first day of a new year.

That’s a popple. If you are over a certain age, you know what that is. Welcome. If you don’t know what that is, you probably won’t be reading this anyways since your youthful A.D.D. brain can’t handle something so long winded.

So…yeah. This is a band blog. Let’s review 2012:

-We played a whole whack of shows, mostly in and around Toronto!

-We made stickers that had a lot of swears!

-We made a music video with strange dream like Victorian wedding themes and a girl fight!

-The same song was featured in an Eva Mendes movie

-Caitlin left the band to focus on her excellent band Bella Clava, and we gained Dr. Thor Keys P. Heisholt (i.e. Jeff Heisholt). We are very pleased that someone with such a wealth of talent  and such lushness of beard has joined us.

-Our song ‘Fugato’ was featured on the NBC sitcom ‘Up All Night’ (starring WILL ARNETT!). We’ve been trying to upload the clip for a while but so far the internet copyright gnomes will not allow it. We will keep you posted.

-Joan joined the storied and infamous chainsaw guitar armada known as White Cowbell Oklahoma on an epic European tour.

Suffice to say that after 6 weeks on the road in multiple foreign countries with that band, Joan will never be (or smell) the same. In a good way!

-Our song ‘Neko Case Hate Fucks Kurt Cobain’ was featured in a ski video that can be appreciated by ski aficionados AND people who like, erm, ladies and bras and stuff.

-We made not one but TWO best of lists on www.tmakworld.com: One of the best shows of the year and one of the top 10 best Indie Bands of the Year!

-So what’s in store for 2013? A whole whack of new songs…meaning new recordings! New music videos! A website redesign! And of course, more shows. Here’s a poster for our first three of 2013 with a couple of our favourite bands:

So that’s about it, I think. Now I understand why twitter and facebook are preferred these days. I appreciate their brevity. I spent so much time writing and linking and embedding this post…I could have been using that time to stare blankly at what everybody else posts on facebook and twitter all day long.

And what else?  Hrrmm…oh yes, we will be making a new music video in April for our song ‘May’!  I know it would be more appropriate to make the video for ‘May’ in, erm, MAY, but we’ve got a schedule to adhere to, people.  May (the song, not the month) is going to be in the new Eva Mendes film ‘Girl In Progress’.  As far as we know, Eva will not be in the video, which is a shame. The non-shame though is that we’ve hooked up with a new fantastic production company, LadyMeta, who have chosen us as one of twelve bands that they will be making FREE videos for in the year 2012 (they are calling this ‘LeTwelve’).  These girls rule and it sounds like this video is going to rule too, Eva or no Eva.

Oh yes, and one more exciting thing:  we will be opening for one of our favouritest bands, Howlin’ Rain, at the Garrison on April 11th.  Rick Ruben produced their latest release.  There is a lot of  effing beard power behind (and in) this effing band. Hope to see you there.  We will shower you with swears!

-CMW!  Two shows, friends (sorry, I am assuming you are our friend.  Maybe you hate us and you only read this blog to make fun of us and send the link to friends with the subject ‘Get a load of these idiots…’).  Friday at 12am at Hard Luck Bar, and Saturday at 9pm at the Painted Lady.

- Tour!  We leave for our ‘Cold and Scared’ tour on Sunday.  Check out myspace or facebook for dates. East Coast: we are coming back to love you…again.  Actually, we’re just going cuz it will really give us the opportunity to consume as much Tim Horton’s as possible and FINALLY win some Roll Up the Rims.
