Hey internetters,
We’re safe and sound back in T.O. after our second eastern leg (i’m not sure if ‘leg’ is an appropriate term, but let’s use it based on our use of the word ‘feet’ in our band name…get it? GET IT? Why aren’t you laughing?).
This leg proved to be most excellent in many regards. As I mentioned before, it’s awesome when you drive into a far away town and you are greeted with a familiar face and a hug (awwwwww…barf). It’s also awesome when you are greeted with a FIVE DOLLAR PARKING TICKET.

Seriously. Coming from Toronto, where paying 5$ to legally park for a couple of hours is a DEAL, this ticket is a magical love letter written by ponies. Yet another reason why we love the east coast.
It’s time to send the big ups to the other great bands we played with.
Fugato! We like you very much…especially when girls dressed in their finest ‘it’s Canada Day, so let’s dress in matching red and white themed slutty outfits’ go up to your bassist/fisherman Pete and stroke his face tenderly, then seductively whisper ‘We don’t like you very much.’ Honestly, I know it’s not that funny to recount unless you know Pete, but it just about topped anything we have seen during this tour (even Snuffy the goat).
Nicknameless! A pleasure to play with both them AND Grooveback in Amherst. Nicknameless hails from Springhill – the birthplace of Anne Murray – hence their most excellent drum skin:

And finally HUDSON! The Hudson boys were kind enough to let us hop on their CD release party in St. Andrews after our Halifax show was cancelled due to some tiny festival named after people who have never had sex. Suffice it to say that although the Seahorse is a most excellent venue, and we look very forward to playing there at the end of August…we really weren’t all that sad about it once the show was said and done. 4 words: foot pedal smoke machine.
So now it is time to try and detox for the next few days before heading out west. You can hear more about why we must detox on the July edition of the Blackfish Podcast – a Vancouver based music podcast. We are the featured artist this month and some snippets of an interview Joan did on a couple of hours sleep can be found within. Check it out here.
And of course, details about how we spent the 36 hours surrounding Canada Day can be found in the video blog. Before the video begins though, this image must be posted since we didn’t get a chance to film it (cuz it was just too damn bumpy and Isaac was scared of only hanging on with one hand while barrelling through West River Station, NS.

You can smell the machismo coming off of him, yes?
And now…the video. Cautions: Baby chicks may be involved.
EDIT: Thoughtlessly forgot to also mention Holdin Up Grants. Best damn two piece we’ve seen (and have geniusly solved the ‘what to do without a bass?) dilema. Even the ghost of M.J. approves.
